Unstoppable Death Machines Studio & Rooftop After Party

Added on by Scott Kaplan.

Brooklyn based rockers The Unstoppable Death Machines were invited into the studio to record while they were in Chicago on their first leg of their 12 city tour. Local rapper SHOWYOUSUCK also went in to record with them, as the two have performed and recorded before last year at SXSW. The came away with a great sounding track, reminiscent of something by the likes of Death Grips. Here are some photo's from the studio session as well as the rooftop location where the band was supposed to play, but neighbors complained. Instead we ended up painting a mural and having an impromptu photo shoot. Fun night, good people and great music, what more could you ask for?

Nils Frahm Empty Bottle Presents

Added on by Scott Kaplan.

There are few people in this world that ooze raw talent and sheer beauty when performing music like Nils Frahm. I have had the honor and pleasure of seeing Nils perform on more than one occasion and each time I found myself wondering if it was the best performance I'd ever seen. Equally rewarding was the opportunity to spend time hanging out with this contemporary avant-garde composer each time as well. To say the man is humble and intelligent is a tremendous understatement (he was taught to play piano by Nahum Brodski, a student of the last scholar of Tchaikovsky). Here's a few photo's from last week's performance at the Chopin Theater in Chicago hosted by the Empty Bottle.

Listen to the link below to hear some of his new release.

DOOMCULT Clothing Line Photographs

Added on by Scott Kaplan.

A good friend and colleague of mine Zak Kiernin has started his own clothing line called DOOMCULT , which now features photographs taken by yours truly. Check it out and while you're at it pick up some of this awesome swag, it's sure to sell out quick. Also be sure to keep an eye out for a forthcoming video vignette which will take you into the mythology behind the brand, produced by myself and the DOOMCULT.

Zak's girlfriend Kate VanAsten also has a clothing line of her own named WULFKA which she's just launched for Fall 2013 (check our her collection here), and has a new spring line coming soon. The boyfriend girlfriend power duo have teamed up and created the  WULFKA X DOOMCULT  (bleached dyed) hooded cardigan. Pick one up as they're sure to go quick!

Youth Job Center video

Added on by Scott Kaplan.

Recently I produced a video for the Youth Job Center (of Evanston, Illinois) which premiered at their annual fundraising event and 30th anniversary at The Modern Wing Art Institute Chicago.  The work that The Youth Job Center does is truely remarkable. This institution should have a place in every community in my opinion. In years past, the video's produced for this event didn't have much of a focus. I took it as my responsibility to try and communicate the work this center does using the words of those who have been directly affected and have gone through the doors of this institution; to really try and place  those who may be potential donors into the shoes of the staff and clients this community center serves.  I find that sometimes these projects may start out as simply a job and quickly become something more. I hear these individuals' stories, their struggles and their successes, and suddenly the impact becomes infinitely more clear and the impetus to participate becomes apparent. Please have a look (change quality to HD for best quality!) .

Menswear street style

Added on by Scott Kaplan.

Here's another batch of some menswear street style I captured yesterday. It was the first official day of spring, and although still chilly, the sun was a welcome sight for sore eyes. Enjoy.
